Mrs. Mattie Roselyn Durrance Lovell, age 78, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning (9/27/22) at her residence following a strong, determined, and courageous battle against an illness that never took her humor or joy of life away.  She passed exactly seven years to the day that her first born son, Danny, went to be with the Lord.

Born January 17, 1944, in Alma, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Harley and Iris Taylor Durrance Courson.  She lived most of her life in Bacon and Pierce Counties and was a “jack of all trades”. She was a longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she attended the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, had been a former Sunday School Teacher, served on the Building Committee, Chairwoman of the WMU, and other church committees.

She was also a former member of the Waycross Kiwanis Club and the Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce and had been a volunteer with the Easter Seals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Earl Monroe Lovell; a son, Danny Earl Lovell; her brothers, David Durrance, Clyde Durrance, Lamar Durrance, Harold Durrance, Harry Courson, and Larry Courson; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Iris Lee Carroll and Lera and Bruce Hyers; and a sister-in-law, Glenda Curl Durrance.
