Melissa Walsh Obituary

Mrs. Melissa Miller Walsh, age 65, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday afternoon (1/24/2021) at Memorial Hospital Jacksonville following a short illness.

Born December 25, 1955 in Colquitt, GA, she was a daughter of Willie Miller and the late Jeanett Smith Peacock. She grew up in Colquitt and moved to Pierce County in 1983. She was a homemaker for most of her life and had babysit and helped to raise many children over the years.  Some were her own children, many others were from other families but treated like hers.  She loved them all and was affectionately known as Meme.  She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her step father, Omer Peacock; her brother, Tony Miller; and 3 grandchildren, Bailey Baldwin, Harley Baldwin, and Reid Brown.

Survivors include her husband, Michael L. Walsh of Blackshear; 4 children, Christy Joyner (husband Mark) of Blackshear, David Aultman (wife Tia) of Blackshear, John Brown (wife Jessica) of Hahira, and Michael Walsh (wife Christina) of Blackshear; 11 grandchildren, Cassandra Joyner of Atlanta, Macie Joyner of Statesboro, Lindsay Joyner James (husband Randall) of Waycross, Payton Joyner (wife Mary) of Birmingham, AL, Dean Aultman (wife Chelsea), Kristian Aultman, Willie Aultman, and Mikey Walsh, all of Blackshear, and Trey Brown, Kyler Davis, and Ryder Brown, all of Hahira; 4 great grandchildren, Fletcher James, Rylee Aultman, Brayden Aultman, and Eloise Joyner; her dad and step mother, Willie and Mary Beth Miller of Donalsonville;  2 sisters, Rachel M. Harden of Bainbridge, GA and Sheila Miller of Colquitt; nieces, Tina Worthington (husband Eric), Toni Chance (husband Blake), and Amy Summerlin (husband Jeff); nephew, Phil Harden (wife Tammy); numerous great nieces, nephew, and other relatives.

A private family service will take place.
