Mr. Mickey Alvis Dixon, age 66, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday morning (11/26/23) at his residence following an extended illness.
Born November 18, 1957, in Waycross, he was a son of the late Alvis Cleon Dixon and Winnie Evelyn Thornton Dixon Guy. He grew up in Waycross and was a 1976 graduate of Waycross High School. He moved to Utah in 1982 before returning to Pierce County in 1996. He was a retired truck driver for Robert Bearden Inc. (RBI) and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Blackshear.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Mitchell Dixon; stepfather, Roy Edward Guy, Sr.; in-laws, Wade H. and Audrey Gardner Hooper; niece, Ansley Day; and nephew Kenneth Collins.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Kelly Ann Dixon of Blackshear; 3 children, David Dixon (wife Angel) of Blackshear, Kellie Haire of Waycross, and Jordan Dixon (wife Samantha) of Blackshear; 6 grandchildren, Dylan Dixon (Aliah Galvan), Kendra Dixon, Gage Merryman, Colton Merryman, Brooklin Haire, and Aeryn Haire; 1 great grandson, Holland Dixon; 3 sisters, Charlotte Davis (husband Billy) and Mary Morgan (husband Robert), both of Blackshear, and Ann Marie Parfenchuck (husband Thomas) of Martinez, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pat and Michelle Collins of Santa Maria, CA, Walter and Linda Roach of Blackshear, and James Hooper of Waycross; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Thursday (11/30/23) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
