Mr. Morgan W. Hess, age 66, of Blackshear, passed away Monday morning (9/13/21) at his residence following an extended illness.
Born August 4, 1955 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Thomas Andrew and Helen Woodard Hess. He had lived in various places all over the United States working as a pipefitter and welder. He also worked in law enforcement for 35 years, working as an Undercover officer in the Atlanta area, and as a police officer and sheriff’s deputy in Vidalia, Brunswick, Appling County and Pierce County.
He was affiliated with St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of the Georgia Peace Officers Association.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ann Marie England Hess of Blackshear; 2 daughters, Christy Harrison of North Carolina and Renee Woodcock (husband Stacy) of Blackshear; a son, Justin Hess of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Erin Deckard (husband Noah), Anna Christmas, Spencer Woodcock, Mason Woodcock, and Cash Hess; his sister, Charlotte Lightsey of Baxley; several nieces and nephews, Thomas (Vera) Lightsey, Shawn Lightsey (wife Jessica), and Jordan Lightsey; special friend, Lisa Moore of Blackshear; forever son-in-law, Jason Christmas of Blackshear; and many friends and other relatives.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place on Sunday (9/19/21) at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
