Mrs. Ruby Pearl Redding Boatright, age 78, of Blackshear, passed away early Thursday morning (3/25/21) at Community Hospice House in Vidalia, Georgia following an extended illness.
Born March 30, 1942 in Hoboken, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Carlton and Effie Eugenie Lee Redding. She grew up in Hoboken but lived most of her life in Pierce County where she retired in 2007 from the Pierce County School System as a bus driver following 27 years of service. She was a member of Blackshear Church of God and had also attended New Life Assembly of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Edward Boatright; three sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Elvera and D.C. O’Berry, Doris and Connie Crews, and Virginia Strickland; a brother, John Ellis “J.E.” Redding; and a sister-in-law, Janice Redding.
Survivors include her daughter, Renee Bonnette (husband Ben) of Metter, 3 grandchildren, Heather Jacobs (husband Jarad) of Blackshear, Rusty Crawford (wife Vivian) of Blackshear, and Kasey Lamb (husband Remington) of Metter; 10 great grandchildren, Caden Jacobs, Ella Grace Jacobs, Bryce Jacobs, Axel Jacobs, Anthony Crawford, Matthew Crawford, Maebree Crawford, and Jaycee Crawford, all of Blackshear, Chestlee Lamb and Emberlie Lamb, both of Metter; 4 sisters, Mae Strickland of Waycross, Evelyn Dowling of Hoboken, Louise and Billy Dawson of Hoboken, and Bernetta and Rayford “Peanut” Thomas of Bloomingdale, GA; 2 brothers, Eugene and Louise Redding of Bloomingdale, GA and Durwood Redding of Hoboken; sisters-in-law, Dale O’Steen of Blackshear, Shirley Walker of Waycross, Barbara Gilliard (husband Jerry) of Blackshear, Patricia Phillips (husband Rick) of Waycross, Barbara Boatright of Waycross, LaQuita Boatright of Patterson, and Sybil Boatright of Blackshear; 1 brother-in-law, Rab Boatright of Patterson; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place on Sunday (3/28/21) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Peacock officiating. Burial will follow in the Waters Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
