Mrs. Peggy Joyce Kendrick Taylor, age 88, of Waycross, passed away Monday morning (2/6/23) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born April 4, 1934, in Gadsden, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Charles Olin and Minnie M. Kendrick. She was a graduate of Etowah High School in Gadsden and lived in DeLand, Florida for many years before moving to Ware County in 1976. She was a longtime housewife and a member of Deenwood Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard Metelits; her second husband, Dell Taylor; and a brother, Charles Michael “Dickie” Kendrick.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Kay Metelits of Waycross; 1 granddaughter, Ashley Dent (husband Jared) of Baxley; 5 great grandchildren, Peyton Thompson, Gracey Thompson, Ret Thornton, Aiden Dent, and Lane Dent; sister, Betty Sue Allen of Waycross; and several other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Thursday (2/9/23) at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Waycross.
The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
