Mr. Roy Elbert Altman, Jr., age 53, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Sunday morning (3/16/25) at UF Health in Jacksonville, Florida following a short illness.
Born January 9, 1972, in Fernandina Beach, Florida, he was the son of Roy Altman, Sr. and the late Cecilia ingram Morris. He grew up in Jacksonville and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. He obtained a degree as a Master Mechanic Transmission Specialist and worked at Alvie’s Transmission Service Unlimited in Jacksonville. He had lived for a few years in Pierce County and had owned and operated Altman’s Transmission in Blackshear and Patterson. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two sons, Dylan Caine Altman and Hunter Daine Altman; his stepmother, Mary Louise Altman; and a brother, Matthew Morris.
Survivors include his father, Roy Altman Sr. of Blackshear; 2 sisters, Crystal and Billy Meadows of Blackshear and Tina Sontag of Jacksonville; stepfather, Alvie Morris of Jacksonville; 2 nephews, Jonathan Lampp of Waycross and Nathan Loredo of Blackshear; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
A graveside funeral service will take place Friday afternoon (3/21/25) at 1 p.m. at Laura Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Johnny Mitcham officiating.
