Mr. Samuel Andrew Boyett, age 91, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday afternoon (8/21/22) at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House following an extended illness.
Born January 10, 1931, in Pierce County, he was a son of the late James Lester and Carie Alma Pierce Boyett. He lived most of his life in Pierce County and was a veteran, having served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He retired as a supervisor with United States Gypsum Corporation in Jacksonville, Florida and was also a farmer. He was an active member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church where he served as the church deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Juanita Lee and Morita Lee; and 5 brothers, Earl Boyett, T.J. Boyett, Elder Winston Boyett, Elder Willis Boyett, and Milford Boyett.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Carolyn Hope Boyett of Blackshear; 2 stepdaughters, Jan Carter of Blackshear and Lynn Marsh (husband Dennis) of Yulee, FL; a stepson, Hal Reynolds (wife Michelle) of Yulee, FL; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Genoa Lee and Geneva Bacon, both of Alma; a brother, Charlie Boyett of Blackshear; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday (8/24/22) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Elder Alvin Johnson, Elder Willis Lee, and Elder Mike Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Rehobeth Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m.
