Sheila Ann (Kirk) Batten

Mrs. Sheila Ann Kirk Batten, age 76, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday evening (3/12/2026) at her residence following an extended illness.

Born June 25, 1949, in Owensboro, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Edward Joseph and Virgie Mae Howard Kirk. She grew up in Florida and lived in Ft. Lauderdale before moving to Pierce County in 1990. She was a longtime housewife and mother and had worked as a title clerk at the Pierce County Tag Office.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Blackshear.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy Gill and Sharon Rose Kirk; and 2 brothers, Stephen Kirk and Mark Kirk.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Felton Batten of Blackshear; 2 sons, Felton W. Batten (wife Noel) of Blackshear and Timothy J. Batten (wife Jeanette) of Weatherford, TX; 6 grandchildren, Vanessa Shea Heineman, Alana Batten, Jamie Batten, Taylor Batten, Brendan Batten, and Aidan Michael Batten; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 2 brothers, Anthony Michael Kirk of West Palm Beach, FL and Michael Wayne Kirk of Jacksonville; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday (3/19/26) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lake Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
