Mr. Stacey Randall Sweat, age 51, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday morning (7/5/2026) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 8, 1975, in Blackshear, he was a son of Eleanor Cox Sweat and the late Larry Randolph Sweat. He lived all his life in Pierce County and was a 1993 graduate of Pierce County High School. He was a longtime employee at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Jesup where he started as a correctional officer and was currently a general foreman over maintenance.
He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his youngest son, Peyton Sweat; grandparents, Tracy and Modena Sweat and William and Elise Cox; father-in-law, Johnny Lee; and mother-in-law, JoAnn Holcomb.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Denise Sweat of Blackshear; 2 sons, Bryan Swain (wife Kaylon) and Keller Sweat (wife Julieanna), both of Blackshear; 3 grandchildren and another expected soon, Gracelyn Sweat, Remi Sweat, and Rosalie Swain; mother, Eleanor Sweat of Blackshear; sister, Vicky Bailey (husband Lewis) of Atkinson; brother, Randy Sweat (wife Michelle) of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Thursday (7/9/26) at 11 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Tuttle and Rev. Greg Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Beulah Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening (7/8/26) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests all employees and coworkers at FCI Jesup to serve as honorary pallbearers. Please be at the church by 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
