Susan Louise (Purrington) Puthoff

Mrs. Susan Louise Purrington Puthoff, age 74, of Patterson, passed away Sunday morning (8/8/21) at her residence in Patterson following a short illness. 

Born November 2,1946 in Mojave, California, she was the daughter of the late Everett Leon Purrington and Eva Lois Carnegie Fichtel. She grew up in California and Cincinnati, but lived many years in Kirkland, Washington where she worked in Real Estate, Telecommunications and Property Management. Her favorite jobs were that of Mom and Grandma. She moved to Patterson in 2010 and had worked as a substitute teacher for the Pierce County and Bacon County School Systems. 

She was devoted in her service to the Pierce County Friends of the Library, the Pierce County Woman’s Club, and the Harborview-Pierce County Pink Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid animal lover, integral in creating the Pierce County Animal Shelter, and a dedicated and faithful member of the Patterson United Methodist Church.  

Susan loved old movies, scrapbooking, sewing and walking along the beach looking for driftwood. She was always willing to help others and could be counted on by those near and far. She treasured her family and friends above everything else and her only wish was to be remembered as a kind person.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two of her brothers, Thomas Purrington and William Fichtel.

She is survived and loved by her two children, Angela Flom (husband Eric) of Milton, GA and Thomas Puthoff of Renton, WA; 5 grandchildren, Alixandria Byquist (husband Kasey) of Kent, WA, Leslie Puthoff of Sammamish, WA, Katharine Flom of Decatur, GA, Tyler Flom of Seattle, WA, and Maxwell Flom of Atlanta, GA; sisters Joan Teglas Duplessis of Patterson, Robyn Jeter (husband Randy) of TX, Hazel Warden (husband Bobby) of TN, and Mary Thomas (husband Demetrius) of TN; brothers John Fichtel II of FL, Cecil Purrington of AK, Scott Purrington (wife Debbie) of TN, Everett Purrington (wife Tracy) of WA, Harry Purrington (wife Melanie) of KS, and Fred Purrington (wife Michelle) of WA; step-mother, Eloise Purrington of TX; special friends, Cheryl Lutzinger and Ellen Wells, both of Patterson and AnnaMarie Nibler of Kirkland, WA; her dog Roxy and many more extended family members. 

A memorial service will take place on Tuesday (8/17/21) at 5:30 pm at Patterson United Methodist Church.
