Mr. Terry Griffin, age 72, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday evening (11/8/25) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following a short illness.
Born June 8, 1953, in Waycross, he was a son of the late Perry E. and Rosa Lee Crawford Griffin. He lived most of his life in Ware and Pierce Counties and was a veteran, retiring as a Master Sergeant following 30 years with the United States Army, and proudly served in the Vietnam War.
Terry retired twice from the Social Security Administration Office in Waycross, had worked for the Okefenokee Swamp Park as a boat tour guide, and recently was a driver for Mike Burch Ford. He was a member of Anchor Baptist Church and had formerly served with the Gideons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 7 siblings, Eldean Griffin, Lamar Griffin, Bobby Griffin, Linda Landrum, Norma Jean Griffin, Berniece Griffin, and Janelle Simpson.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Boyette Griffin of Blackshear; 2 children, Bradley Griffin (wife Stacy) and April Davis, both of Blackshear; 5 grandchildren, Hunter Griffin (wife Sierra), Kyle Reynolds, Catlyn Turbeville (husband Blake), Thomas Griffin, and Brandon Griffin, all of Blackshear, and James Reynolds of Waycross; 5 great grandchildren, Asher Diaz, Kinley Griffin, Dustyn Turbeville, Easton Turbeville, and Illa May Griffin expected soon; 3 siblings, Barbara Tucker of Waycross, Debbie McCarter (husband Bobby) of York, SC, and Ricky Griffin of Waycross; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Tuesday morning (11/11/2025) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Dell officiating. Burial will follow in the High Bluff Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
