Mr. Thomas Jackson Hickox, age 88, of Patterson, passed away Friday morning (8/20/21) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following a short illness.
Born August 10, 1933 in Hoboken, he was a son of the late Joseph Washington and Viola Walker Hickox. He grew up in Brantley County and Pierce County and moved to the Savannah area in the early 1950’s. He worked several years for Union Camp Corporation in Savannah before becoming the owner of his own barbershop. Following years of operating his own business, he accepted a job and retired as a technician for Pepsi. He returned to Pierce County in 1997 and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Patterson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Crewe Hickox; a son, Thomas Lee Hickox; a great grandson, Sergio Ortega-Gonzalez; and a brother, Bert Hickox.
Survivors include 2 children, Donald Allen Hickox (wife Yvonne) of Ozark, AL and Sheryl Bolton of Allenhurst, GA; 6 grandchildren, Heather Cook (husband Jason), Betty Dawn Mojica (husband Javier), Robert Hickox, David Bolton (wife Michelle), Sydney Denny (husband Dylan), and Allen Hickox; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Freida (Earl) Woodcock of Jesup and Faye Sauls of Yulee, FL; 5 brothers, James (Betty Lou) Hickox and Wiley (Lucy) Hickox, both of Yulee, FL, Robert Hickox of Patterson, Middie (Dana) Hickox of Jesup, and Claude (Kathryn) Hickox of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Monday morning (8/23/21) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Laura Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
