Mr. Timothy Glynn “Mad Dog” Crawford, age 74, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday morning (2/3/21) at his residence following an extended illness.
Born December 6, 1946 in Waycross, he was a son of the late Timothy Walter and Gaynell Strickland Crawford. He grew up in Waycross and then moved to Florida to attend and graduate from Howey-in-the Hills High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Marines and served as a door gunner in the Vietnam War. He lived in the Atlanta area for a few years before moving to Pierce County in the early 1970’s. He had owned several businesses in the Atlanta area but was employed for many years with Local Union 865 and then Local Union 256 as a millwright/carpenter/welder. His true passion in life was farming and growing vegetables.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant child and a brother-in-law, Harry Jackson Thompson.
Survivors include his 2 children, Timothy Brian Crawford (Amy Tomlinson) of Leesburg and Megan Shawne Crawford of Blackshear; 3 grandchildren, Madison Whisper Crawford, Kaelyn Nydia Crawford, and Timothy Ethan Crawford, all of Hoboken; sister, Lawana Crawford Thompson of Montgomery, AL; brother, Russell Wayne Crawford (wife Elizabeth) of Blackshear; his niece and nephews, Robin A. Crawford (wife Gina) of Blackshear, Laurie T. Earls (husband Michael) of Montgomery, and Jay Harrison Thompson of Montgomery; the mother of his children, Sonia Crawford of Blackshear; and many friends and other relatives.
A graveside funeral service will take place Monday afternoon (2/8/21) at 2 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
