Mr. Van Edward Wardell, age 68, of Patterson, passed away Friday (11/18/22) at his residence following a short illness.
Born September 14, 1954, in Americus, Georgia, he was a son of the late Hobart Sheridan and Thelma Downer Wardell. He had lived most of his life in Texas and the Warner Robins, Georgia area before moving to Pierce County around 2015 to be near his family. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force where he helped to build aircrafts. He also taught at Middle Georgia Technical College, had worked as a painter, and as a horse trainer.
Survivors include 2 sisters, Shirley Thorne of Patterson and Wanda Crawley of Warner Robins; 2 stepchildren, Duran Tanner and Emily Long, both of St. Marys; nieces and nephew, Linda Susan Wardell of Loganville, Sheridan Crawley of Warner Robins, Lydia Thorne of Patterson, and Lorre Gill of Patterson; and several great nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Time of Remembrance will take place Friday (11/25/22) at Hart Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until noon. Burial will follow in the Offerman Cemetery.
