Venson Neal Sikes

Mr. Venson Neal Sikes, age 65, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning (10/4/2022) at his residence following an extended illness.

Born February 14, 1957, in Jesup, Georgia, he was a son of the late Mitchell Elmer and Eureta Harris Sikes. He lived all his life in Wayne and Pierce Counties and had worked as a self-employed contractor as the owner of C&M Construction Company. He then worked for 18 years with the Pierce County Road Department and then retired after 20 years as an owner/operator Semi Truck Driver. 

He formerly attended Full Gospel Church of God Apostolic in Waycross but had currently been attending New Life Assembly of God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; a grandchild, Babe Twilley; 2 brothers, Harold Sikes and Eddie Sikes; and several baby siblings.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Paula Sikes of Blackshear; 2 children, Cindy Sikes Twilley (husband Art) of Salisbury, MD and Matthew Sikes (wife Krystal) of Blackshear; 4 grandchildren, Aundrea Twilley Manuel (husband Jason), William Tyler Twilley, Austin Sikes, and Megan Sikes; 2 great grandchildren and another expected soon, Finn Levin Twilley and Carter Reed Manuel; 1 sister, Faye Cribbs of Alma; 1 brother, Freddie Sikes (wife Marilyn) of Jesup; and 2 sisters-in-law, Wanda Sikes of Baxley and Ruth Sikes of Jesup; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will take place Friday (10/7/22) at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
