Virgil Lester Chaney

Mr. Virgil Lester Chaney, age 64, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday morning (10/25/25) at his residence.

Born July 24, 1961, in Blackshear, he was a son of Jenetha Strickland Chaney and the late Truman Lester Chaney. He lived all his life in Pierce County and was a 1979 graduate of Blackshear High School. He had worked as a boilermaker with Local 26 and was retired as a longtime owner/operator of Chaney’s Sewing Center.  He was of the Pentecostal faith.

His son, Christopher Levi Chaney passed away Saturday also.

Survivors include his wife, Tereasa Chaney of Blackshear; daughter, Kaitlyn Storm Chaney of Jacksonville, Florida; granddaughter, Zara Murray of Blackshear; mother, Jenetha Strickland Chaney of Blackshear; brother, Bryan Chaney of Blackshear; sister, Karen Bowen Patterson of Blackshear; and several other relatives.

A funeral service will take place Friday afternoon (10/31/25) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Enon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to the service.
