Mr. Wayne Rhodes, age 85, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday morning (8/13/2025) at Hospice Satilla Hospice House following an extended illness.
Born October 10, 1939, in Arlington, Virginia, he was a son of the late Orien Kenneth and Thelma Wrenn Rhodes. He lived most of his life in Virginia and was a retired skilled auto mechanic with Jim Harris Pontiac. He also served as a Boy Scout Camp Ranger at Camp Theodore Roosevelt, Strauss Wilderness Area, and Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation. He moved to Pierce County in 2022.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Butler Rhodes; son, Anthony James Rhodes; three brothers, Kenneth Rhodes, Milton Rhodes, and Larry Rhodes; and 2 grandchildren, Connor Rhodes and Lauren Rhodes.
Survivors include his three children, Cynthia Rhodes of Oregon, Bryan Rhodes of Maryland, and Michael Rhodes of Virginia; three sisters, Judith Rhodes of Macon, Peggy Mercer of Waycross, and Patsy Blanchard (husband Al) of Waycross; one brother, Roy Rhodes of Waycross; eight grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
