Mrs. Wylene Cason Woodcock, age 89, of Patterson, passed away Sunday afternoon (5/5/2024) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born November 13, 1934, in Patterson, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Simon Shadrick and Vergie Elizabeth Boyette Cason. Living all her life in Pierce County, she had worked as a seamstress at Julie Hat Company for more than 20 years and worked at the Patterson Café, but was also a longtime housewife, blessed to be a loving mother, and nurturing grandmother and great grandmother to her family.
She was a member of Patterson Baptist Church and attended the Joy Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, James Ward Woodcock; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Woodcock (L.M.) Lane; 2 sons, James Mitchell Woodcock and Sanford Marlowe Woodcock; two sons-in-law, Joe Herrin and Dr. Randy DeLoach; a grandson, Gregory Simon Woodcock; a sister, Nadine Cason Denison; and 2 brothers, Simon Lavon “Peanut” Cason and Arlen Cason.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Sherry Herrin of Patterson, Alesia DeLoach of Douglas, and Wendy Kimbrell (husband Bronze) of Daytona Beach, FL; 3 sons, Ray Anthony Woodcock of Patterson, Gregory Wendell Woodcock (wife Judie) of Brunswick, and Eric Ward Woodcock of Patterson; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 6 sisters, Lavinia Cason Thornton , Audrey Rodgers, and Gail Cason, all of Jesup, Clara Latham of Brunswick, Delane Gordon of Screven, and Sue Ann Denison of Patterson; 5 brothers, Wendell Cason, Kenneth Cason, Truman Cason (wife Gail), and Donald Cason (wife Virginia), all of Patterson, and Deryl Cason of Blackshear; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A visitation will take place Tuesday evening (5/7/2024) from 6-8 p.m. at Hart Funeral Home.
A private burial will take place on Wednesday (5/8/2024).
