Mr. Roy Parnell Lovell

Mr. Roy Parnell Lovell, age 75, of Blackshear, died early Saturday morning (11/2/13) at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House following an extended illness.

Mr. Lovell was born July 13, 1938 to the Late George W. and Thelma Courson Lovell and was a lifelong resident of Pierce County. He was a veteran, serving in the US Army from 1959-1962, rising to the rank of SP4 E-4. He lived in Ft. Jackson South Carolina, Ft Knox Kentucky, and Ft. Belvoir Virginia and served one tour in Korea from 1960-61. He moved back to Blackshear and had worked and retired from Champion Plywood, where he operated the saws for 28 years.  He was of the Baptist faith. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Roberta Coleman Lovell; a brother: Dennie Lovell; and 2 nieces: Carolyn Hall & Bonnie Smith.

He is survived by 1 daughter: Sherri Walker of Blackshear; 2 sons: Jeffery Lovell (wife Lisa) and Mikel Lovell (wife Cassandra), both of Alma; 6 grandchildren: Jeffery Earl Lovell, Martha Anne Cardell (husband Damion), Journey Lovell, Jonathan Perone, Mavi Walker, and William Walker, all of Blackshear; 1 great grandchild: Alexx Cardell; a special step granddaughter: Alicia Gay (husband Corey) and family, of Waycross; 1 sister: Yvonne Murphy (life companion Charles Rollins) of Millwood; 3 brothers: Earl Lovell (wife Roselyn) of Blackshear, Ronnie Lovell (wife Mildred) of Blackshear, and Mitchell Lovell (wife Gloria) of Sylvester, GA; the mother of his children: Sula Fisk of Alma; a special niece: Lorrie Lovell Taylor (Linton) of Blackshear, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service will take place Monday evening (11/4/13) at 6 PM in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice Satilla,  808 Evergreen Way,  Waycross, GA 31501.

Uncle Roy, you will be missed dearly. I truly was honored to have been with you during these last few months as you courageously fought a good fight against cancer. To the entire family...my prayers go out to help us during this sad time.

Roy, I will miss you and our long conversations so very, very much. I am so happy I had the last 2 months with you at my home. It made your death bearable to know your suffering was over.
