Mr John “Jack” Sterling Little, Sr., age 91, of Blackshear, died Sunday evening (9/6/15) at his residence following a short illness.

Born April 28, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was a son of the late Edward Kent and Olive Gean Angell Little.  He had lived in California for many years before moving to Blackshear about 30 years ago.

He was a veteran, serving in the U. S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan towards the end of World War II. He served with the maintenance ground crew, helping to repair the wrecked planes.

He worked many years in the oil well industry and retired as a saleman from Fluid Packed Pump Company ( a division of Arm Cast Steel).

He was a member of the Huntington Beach, California Masonic Lodge No. 380 and was of the Lutheran faith.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Bruce Little and Edward Kent Little, Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Winnie Evelyn Yawn Little of Blackshear; 2 daughters, Gean Corbitt (husband Paul) and Sherry Little, both of California; his son, John Little, Jr. (wife Ruth) of California; a step daughter, Wanda Cerrillo of California; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 2 cousins, Glenda Quarterman and Wilber Copeland, both of Hazlehurst; and an aunt, Vessie Lou Yawn of Hazlehurst, and several other relatives.

Memorialization will be by cremation.  

Burial will take place in the Philadelphia Methodist Church Cemetery in Hazlehurst, GA at a later date.
